Front Raises

The Front Raise is an early-to-mid phase The Shoulder Girdle exercise that is comprised of a controlled concentric and eccentric Muscle Contraction through a moderate range of Glenohumeral Joint motion.

Procedure

Starting Position:

  • Patient is standing upright with a weight (BB, Plate or DB’s) supported in front of them with both hands

The Front Raise is then performed by raising the weight in the frontal plane, typically to 90º GH Joint - Flexion . If the patients mobility is willing, the weight can be raised through full GH Joint - Flexion .

Variation

  • Seated- the Front Raise can also be performed seated for more stability assistance

  • Side Raises - the same exercise performed in the sagittal plane
